Ayesha’s Struggle: A Tale of Abandonment and Hope
Ayesha Mateen’s life took a devastating turn after the death of her husband, Shahid Mahmood. Once living a happy and content life, she now finds herself abandoned by her own family and in desperate need of support.
Originally from Gujranwala, Ayesha grew up in a large family with three sisters and five brothers. Over time, her siblings moved abroad—her brothers settled in Kuwait, while her sisters also established their lives overseas. Ayesha married and was blessed with two daughters, Areeha Noor and Ayat Noor. She even spent some time in Dubai, enjoying a stable and comfortable life.
However, tragedy struck in February 2022 when her husband passed away. Less than a year later, in January 2023, Ayesha suffered a severe stroke, leaving the right side of her body paralyzed. She lost control of her arm and leg and struggled with speech. Unable to care for her daughters, they were taken in by their paternal uncle and grandmother. Despite having a large family, no one stepped forward to support her—neither her in-laws nor her own siblings.
For a while, Ayesha found refuge with her cousin, Tahmina Akram, who took care of her as best she could. However, with increasing financial burdens and personal responsibilities, Tahmina could no longer continue supporting her.
“I have done everything I could, but with my own family to look after and the rising cost of living, I can no longer bear the burden of Ayesha’s medical expenses and daily needs,” Tahmina explained. “I am providing a sworn statement, entrusting her care to your organization. From today onwards, your institution will be responsible for her food, shelter, and medical care.”
Now, Ayesha waits for a helping hand, holding onto hope that a kind soul or an organization will come forward to provide the care she so desperately needs.
