The Struggles of Aasia Bibi
Aasia Bibi was born and raised in the Ayub Goth area of Karachi. Her parents, Khalida Shaheen and Liaqat, took care of her upbringing. At the age of 22, she was married to Irfan, a resident of Sargodha who lived near Factory Area, Babu Mohalla. However, her in-laws, Zahida Parveen and Altaf, treated her harshly. They constantly made unreasonable demands for dowry and subjected her to verbal and emotional abuse. Her husband, Irfan, was also abusive, frequently harming her—especially when under the influence of drugs.
Unable to endure the cruelty any longer, Aasia left Irfan and returned to Karachi with her two daughters and a son. She filed for divorce through the court and successfully separated from him.
A year later, under her mother’s supervision, she married Adnan, a resident of Karachi. However, they were unaware that Adnan was already married with three children. Due to ongoing conflicts with his first wife, Aasia’s second marriage quickly fell apart, and just a year later, Adnan divorced her as well.
Some time later, her mother arranged for her to remarry her first husband, Irfan. She stayed with him for ten days, but he soon resumed his abusive behavior and began threatening to take the children away from her. Overcome with fear and distress, Aasia once again separated from Irfan, who ultimately divorced her.
Now, both of her daughters are living with Adnan, while Aasia resides in a Hawa shelter home. Despite the hardships she has faced, she continues to search for stability and a better future.
